About the Real Ship: The USS Grissom NCC-638 is a starship belonging to the United Federation of Planets, one of the Oberth-class vessels. It was mainly operated as a scientific survey ship. It is equipped with advanced sensors and numerous laboratories, as well as deflector shields, but is notable for carrying only the minimum necessary armament. The hull shape also features a design in which the saucer-shaped primary hull and the engineering secondary hull are not directly connected. In the film "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock," it was assigned to investigate the planet Genesis in 2285. It was destroyed in battle with a Klingon Bird-of-Prey warship. The Bird-of-Prey appears as a Romulan starship elsewhere, but in the film "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock," in which it attacks the Grissom NCC-638, it appears as a Klingon starship. It has a distinctive design resembling spread wings, and the one appearing in this film is of the smallest class, the B'rel-class. About the Kit: This is a 2-ship set plastic model assembly kit that recreates the USS Grissom and the Bird-of-Prey, the two starships that face off in the film "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock," each in 1/1000 scale. Newly developed using CAD design, assembly uses a snap-fit system that requires no adhesive. The USS Grissom finishes at approximately 12cm, and the Bird-of-Prey at approximately 16cm, both convenient sizes. Assembly is also simple, so it can be tackled with ease. Additionally, the Bird-of-Prey comes with 2 sets of wing baffle parts, allowing you to choose between building it in cruise mode or attack mode configuration. Of course, both distinctive shapes are accurately modeled, and the fine engraved detail on the hull surfaces heightens the realism. Comes with a display stand featuring a disc-shaped base and shaft. The set of the two ships that fought in a scene from the film also makes for enjoyable diorama-making. A must-have for any Star Trek fan's collection.
