Hot Wheels Car Culture Japan Historics 4 '72 Toyota Corolla Levin Vehicle Toy Minicar for ages 3 and up Orange HRV69
[Contents] The origins of the current GR 86 can be said to be the sports grade Levin, which appeared in 1972 as a high-performance model of the second-generation Corolla, and its sister car, the Sprinter Trueno.
Its origins lie in the equipping of a 1.6-liter DOHC engine from the Celica GT, a premium specialty car, to a two-door model of the Corolla, a compact, affordable car, and in anticipation of the needs of motorsports (rally/circuit racing) competitions that were beginning to pick up steam in Japan in the 1970s. Externally, the car can be distinguished from a regular Corolla by the over fenders attached with screws on all four wheels.
This car was a Japan-only model, but nowadays it is counted as a globally famous car as the ancestor of the AE86 Levin and its sister car, the Sprinter and Trueno, which are both popular worldwide. In Japan, it is often called the "Ninana Levin" because of its model number, the TE27.
Hot Wheels has recreated the car with a new mold. It has been customized with a rear spoiler and chin spoiler. It is also worth noting that the car name on the card is written in Japanese.
