The USS George Washington, CVN-73, is a United States Navy aircraft carrier based at Yokosuka Naval Base. It was named after the first President of the United States, George Washington.
It is the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier deployed in Japan. It returned to the United States in 2015, and after modernization, it arrived at Yokosuka Base on November 22, 2024 and was redeployed.
Its total length is 333m, the same as the height of Tokyo Tower, its maximum width is 76.8m, and it can accommodate a total of approximately 5,700 people.
She was commissioned on July 4, 1992, the 216th Independence Day of the United States, and her original home port was Norfolk, Virginia.
