[Contents] The first-generation Fairlady Z, which appeared in 1969, was a GT car that combined a closed body and a 6-cylinder engine, a departure from the two-seater open-top Nissan Fairlady that had preceded it. This major "character change" was largely due to requests from the US, which was the main market for the car, and instead of the 2-liter engine that was the main feature of the Japanese model, the US model was primarily powered by a powerful 2.4-liter engine, with a 2.8-liter engine eventually being installed.
In America, the name "Fairlady" is not used, but rather it is simply called Z, and this is combined with the engine displacement to create the names 240Z, 260Z, and 280Z.
As you can tell from the Japanese name on the card, the car that Hot Wheels chose as their subject is the Japanese version. However, it is not in its normal state, but has a pointed fascia called the G-nose, which was an aerodynamic model exclusive to Japan, combined with a large front spoiler and over fenders.
At first glance it appears to be an official race specification, but the taillights are road racer specification, with the so-called Japan taillights transplanted from the 5th generation Skyline.
