For this brand-new tooling item debuting under the "Terra Trek" line, Hot Wheels chose as its subject the 8th-generation Datsun Truck, sold in Japan from 1979 to 1985. Both in Japan and overseas, the 8th-generation Datsun Truck is often called the "720" after its model code.
The King Cab name refers to a model with an extended cabin length for greater comfort, featuring reclining seats and small rear seats, with a distinctive small window behind the door.
This model recreates a 4WD version of the truck, modified in Baja Race style for desert racing, with raised ride height, large-diameter tires, bumper guards, and a roll bar to protect occupants in a rollover.
