[Contents] The 5th-generation Silvia (S13), introduced in 1988, shares its basic components with its sister car—but the 180SX, which debuted in 1989, was given a dedicated front mask with pop-up headlights and a hatchback rear body.
With rear-wheel drive and a multi-link rear suspension, it boasted excellent handling performance, later becoming extremely popular as a base for drift-car modifications.
The 180SX continued production with basically no major changes from 1993, when its sister car the Silvia switched to the 6th generation (S14), until 1999, as it was about to transition to the 7th generation.
The Hot Wheels model is based on the later-facelift version of the 180SX (which had early, mid, and late versions), featuring round quad taillights reminiscent of the Skyline.
